Tier and Dott , two leading European scooter- and wheel - apportion service , are becoming one serving calledDott . The two startups have already laid out plans to meld and form a single society back inJanuary 2024 .
With this uniting , the companies did n’t require to work up a conglomerate of micromobility services ; the operation was all about scale . That ’s why the company is moving everything to a single app and a single fleet of vehicle for the end consumer , too . Tier drug user will increasingly be redirected to the Dott app on a city - by - city basis . The migration should be done by March 2025 .
“ If you ’re in a city where Tier operated and Dott did not manoeuvre , the users have to download the new app . If you have the latest app from Tier , it ’s just a couple of suction stop . If not , you have to download and reregister , ” Moissinac say .
Tier electric bikes and scooters are n’t going anywhere . They will be refreshed with Dott paster to cover the Tier logos . You may have seen that change in some metropolis where both Tier and Dott were available .
“ What has been a swelled challenge was to bring the two fleet together on one technology mess , rebuild our received operating practices … what we ’ve seen is that some things were very well done here , some things were well done there , and we are trying to play the two together , ” Moissinac aver .

The new Dott fleet covers 427 cities across Europe and the Middle East ; the overlap was quite small , as Dott and Tier were just vie in 17 cities . Overall , it represents around 250,000 galvanising bikes and scooters .
Over the last year , Dott and Tier had a bit more than 10 million unique rider who used these mobility services for 100 million trips . So that ’s 10 trips per rider on average with some very frequent substance abuser and some customers who just tried the overhaul once . And the company think this is one of the most important metrics going forward .
“ Our scheme is very much around local anesthetic . We are a local service for the local with frequent riders . The most significant metric for me is the number of rides per active rider per calendar month , ” Moissinac say .
As part of this strategy , the number of rides is growing faster than the company ’s receipts as Dott has been promoting passes to increase recur usage . For instance , in Paris , you may purchase a € 4.99 pass so that all your rides for the next 30 days cost a flat fee of € 1.75 per drive .
When Dott and Tier announced the unification , they also raised € 60 million ( around $ 67 million at current exchange rates ) . There is no backing round with Monday ’s declaration . “ We ’re fine with cash , ” Moissinac say .
“ We do n’t need more cash , but we have opportunity we could unlock if we put a bit more cash . I do n’t bonk if we do it now or after … Typically , in the winter , it ’s a right time to think about your scheme for the next year , ” he added .
