Unlike Android , there is no way to secure your apps on iOS . you could not have a passcode , Touch ID or Face ID unless the app developer enforce it . But hey , I ca n’t look for the developer so I found a crude workaround . It ’s not the best path but it surely works and locks the apps on my iPhone . Let me show you .
Lock Apps on iPhone
While checking out another iOS feature , Screen Time , I found out that you could really lock an app . The iPhone would stop you from accessing the app unless you entered the passcode . This is double-dyed for tally a passcode on any app . However , it has two alleged loopholes and that ’s why I call it a earthy workaround .
To set up the passcode , open your iPhone andgo to preferences . Navigate toScreen Timeand tap the icon to open its pageboy .
Now , we ’ll set up a passcode for the apps that we wish well to engage . This is afour - digit passcodethat can be different from your six - digit iPhone passcode . It add up an added bed of security to the apps if you ever have to severalise your iPhone passcode to someone .
After you set a passcode , Screen Time would prompt you to lay out up a retrieval choice . You must practice your Apple ID to limit it up . This would come in handy in unlock the app if you ever forget the passcode . After that , tap ‘ App Limits’to start securing your apps .
Tap the Add point of accumulation buttonand it would open a list of all the apps that are instal on your iPhone . you’re able to lock every app except the Phone app . Afterselecting all the apps , tap Next .
Now , determine a clip limit for these appswhere you’re able to get at it nonsensitive , blue-ribbon one instant . Also , remember toturn on the“Block at last of Limit ” option . That ’s all you call for to do , your apps are now batten down behind a passcode .
Now all the apps lock behind a passcode would look like the image below . When you render to open up the locked app , it shows you this splash screen that says “ you ’ve reached your limit for this app “ . When you tap OK , the app decease but if you tap ‘ Ask for more sentence ’ it will ask for a passcode and allow you access to the app .
I refer the alleged loopholes of this workaround . One arcminute is the minimal app limit you’re able to set for an app . It means to keep the app secure , you will have to use the app for at least one minute every daylight . Prior to that , the app will only open with a passcode set in the Screen Time app .
The second loophole of this workaround is that when you do enrol a passcode to reach the app , it will unlock the app for a minimum of fifteen minutes and there is no agency to reduce that time , for now .
No Native Way to Lock Apps on iPhone
Apple offer passcode , Touch ID , and confront ID to secure your iPhone from unauthorised user . While it is fairly unattackable but nothings stops the great unwashed if your earpiece is provide unbarred . There are only a fistful of companies that have included Face ID and Touch ID in their apps . For example , WhatsApp lets you enable confront ID and Touch IDso even if you go out your iPhone unlock no one would be able to access your secret message . That is also true for Edison , anemail node app that can password protect your Emails .
