Google Cloud is giving Y Combinator startups access to a consecrate , subsidized cluster of Nvidia graphics processing building block and Google tensor processing unit to build AI models . It ’s part of Google Cloud ’s effort to cozy up with promising early - level AI startups , in hopes some of them will evolve into monolithic , compute - hungry businesses .
“ We want to wall them with a luck of sexual love and warmth too soon in their life cycle so they get familiarized with building and working on the Google Cloud Platform , ” said cosmopolitan director for Google Cloud ’s inauguration and AI job , James Lee , in an audience with TechCrunch . “ As they stick around , we develop as they uprise , and we become a pardner of theirs throughout their life oscillation . ”
Specifically , Google will provide a dedicated cluster with priority admission for YC ’s Summer 2024 startups , along with $ 350,000 in swarm credits over two years for each participating inauguration . The theme is that a future unicorn will light in erotic love with building on Google Cloud . Five percent of Y Combinator startup over the last 18 years have become unicorns with billion - dollar - plus valuations , YC group married person Diana Hu assure TechCrunch , so it ’s a seemly stake for Google to make on this partnership .
“ There ’s a band of fervor that the next generation of startup will probably not just unicorn , but decacorn , and they ’re getting built as we mouth , ” enunciate Hu . “ Cloud providers are still catch up in term of how to price them , but they do have sex if you catch them betimes on , you ’re going to ride the waving with them . ”
On the insolent side , Y Combinator says it can appeal more AI inauguration to apply by proffer generous compute resources alongside its investment and steering . For early - stage AI startup , Hu tell one of the most coarse issues she hears is that startups are compute - restrained . Large go-ahead are able to come to multi - year , massive deals with cloud provider for GPU access , but small startups are often left out to dry out . She says partnership like these go a long means , particularly when you have a consecrated bunch — that ’s particularly important for training AI manakin .
“ For GPU and AI workloads , they ’re more like high performance computing workloads in mountain . You do n’t need the server running all the time , but you need a set of them in a spiky workload , ” said Hu . “ So we have a dedicated clump that YC companies can just practice . ”
As part of the partnership , Google will also propose YC startups $ 12,000 in Enhanced Support credits and a costless year of Google Workspace Business Plus . YC inauguration can also connect with Google ’s internal AI expert through monthly office hour .

Startup accelerator and venture cap firms are offer GPU clusters more and more these days . Andreessen Horowitz reportedly hasa stash of 20,000 GPUsto draw AI startup . Google Cloud and Y Combinator would not reveal the exact act in this deal , but Hu say it ’s sufficient for YC ’s foundation role model companies to prepare models on .
