Not even a month has passed since Samsung unveiled the GalaxyZ Fold 6andZ Flip 6line and rumour are already start to drip for the Fold 7 . Samsung ’s president , TM Roh , wants the next foldable to be thin than S24 Ultra , a unconstipated slab phone . But to indemnify for the space , may increase the screen size to 8 inches .
The Fold 6 is already slim at 12.1 millimetre thick , 1.3 millimetre less than Fold 5 , and librate 239 grams which is 14 grams light than before . But Samsung has more challenging plans . KedGlobal reportsthat the engineers have been tasked with gain the Fold 7 as thin as the S24 Ultra when folded which is 7.7 mm . Not only that , they want it to be light still at around 232 grams . Now that would be an telling feat , if Samsung can pull it off .
The Fold 6 , when open , is already slimmer at 5.6 mm than S24 Ultra which sits at 8.6 mm . But Samsung now want the thickness levels to be corresponding when it is not close making it abettor option than Fold 5 .
The Fold 6 sports a 7.6 inch display when unfolder but the next model may be slightly great at 8 inches . peradventure increase the sizing of the display may compensate for suffer place due to reduce thickness ? Only a teardown can break that .
So why is Samsung and other foldable smartphone company obsess with thinner smartphones ? That ’s because despite all the creation and tech that is blend in into making these earpiece , they are still not mainstream . Folding phones account forless than 2 % of global smartphone market . Reason ? They are bulky , expensive , and turn up display are prostrate to equipment casualty . Samsung has put to work on the hinge in the late year . But the fact thatHuawei has taken the leadfrom Samsung in folding phone , they seem to have a trouble .
It is interesting that Apple , a key rival , has still not plunge a single folding telephone set so far . But as Tim Cook noted in avideo with MKB :
Our objective is never to be first , our objective is always to be expert . – Tim Cook
Maybe that excuse their current folding phones strategy ? Either way , the battle for dominance in the folding phones market is heating up which is always good for the end exploiter because that means good product and more founding .
