A newiOS social health appcalledExistwants to help in-between - senior consumer connect and build meaningful community with one another as they pilot their life and the stress that come in with it .

The app describes itself as the edgier cousin of Calm or Headspace , and its main feature is social journaling . The musical theme behind the app ’s social and community - driven journaling is to help people heal together , rather than alone . Exist also features a day-by-day humor tracker , audio exercises , guided meditations , and more .

The app was institute by Alicia Waldner , who is the father of a marketing agency call ADventure Marketing , and iOS developer Jason Jardim , who previously founded a startup calledLounge .

Waldner told TechCrunch in an audience that she had attended a serial publication of mathematical group genial wellness experiences , and had heard from masses who were looking to have these sorts of community - free-base experience at home . She then set out to make an app that would encompass this biotic community - building theme . To aid bring her thought to life , Waldner hired Jardim through Indeed as her CTO and then brought him on as a co - founder .

While Exist was originally meant to target Gen ezed users , the premise stop up resonating with halfway - aged users , as the ordinary age of users who sign up for the app was 40 . The duo then decided to sharpen and center the app around this older group .

“ The biggest feature that make us dissimilar is the community side , ” Waldner allege . “ Headspace and Calm proved that there ’s this audio - based market , but people still feel very alone in those experiences and in real life , people meditate and then they journal , but that ’s a solo experience . And what we did was make that a societal experience . So instead of journaling all your thoughts and feelings at rest home and order it underneath your bed at night , you ’re sharing it with the creation , and people are comment back . ”

Exist also offers an AI - powered head feature that prompts substance abuser to expand on their journals and explore more of their thoughts and tactual sensation .
