Though Epic has visit some victories — now , developer are let to route users to alternative payment method acting — Apple has not been evidence to be a monopoly in any of these suit .

As the Digital Markets Act ( DMA ) took effect in the European Union , Spotify has become moreantagonistictoward Apple . TheDMAwas supposed to facilitate competition in the EU , but Spotify calledApple ’s plans for DMA compliance — which add extra developer fees — “ a complete and total farce . ”

In a thread on X , Spotify CEO Daniel Eksaid : “ I was skeptical of Apple ’s intention to comply after years of watching them get by with such extreme misuse with all the slipway they skirt regulation around the earth . Who would n’t be ? But the law is the constabulary , correct ? Not if you are Apple … ”

In a statement , Apple said : “ This causa jeopardise who we are and the principles that adjust Apple production apart in fiercely competitive markets . If successful , it would obstruct our ability to create the sort of technology citizenry bear from Apple — where hardware , software system , and services intersect . It would also set a dangerous precedent , empowering government to take a heavy hired hand in project people ’s technology . We believe this lawsuit is improper on the fact and the law , and we will smartly represent against it . ”
