Artificial intelligence can find out of sight signals in data across healthcare , and company like Nvidia are leaning into what this can mean . For model , itannounced two dozen new AI - power toolslast workweek for areas include biotech and drug discovery . And Nvidia is not alone .

Century Healthis a new startup also getting in on the action . It ’s applying AI to clinical data to uncover Modern app for drugs . It ’s working with pharmaceutical companies and research worker , initially at Yale and UC San Diego , to place and market the next breakthrough for diseases , like Alzheimer ’s , that affect 10 of millions of patient role .

The mission is a personal one for Century Health ’s Colorado - founder and CEO , Vish Srivastava . He watched his grandfather ’s Alzheimer ’s get to the point in time where he did n’t recognize Srivastava anymore .

“ That sent me down a rabbit hole , ” said Srivastava , whose background is in health care mathematical product development and datum . “ One of the biggest issue around innovation for raw treatment is efficient access to good patient data . This is now only potential because of productive AI . That data point sat around for decades because it takes manual drive to normalize and extract insight from it . ”

The ultimate destination is accelerating entree to treatment , Srivastava said .

“ Drug development is massively expensive , and on average , use up $ 1 billion to $ 2 billion to develop a novel drug , ” he say . “ From the pharma company ’s perspective , when their drug is now O.K. , the mission is to get it to patients as rapidly as possible . For us , that also entail as affordably as potential with access to good actual - world data . ”

Now with $ 2 million pre - seed funding , Century Health will run three to five pilot over the next several month . The goal is to formalise the initial technology that collects the data and , most importantly , to see the impact the sixth sense from those data point sets can play , Srivastava articulate .

He sees these pilot burner as design partnerships and a path to get feedback on the benefits of drugs , for example , which patient subpopulation might be underrepresented . In addition to the validated engineering science , another milepost will be to batten down early revenue from the pilots , which Century Health can leverage to go after another turn of speculation capital .

The investment was led by 2048 Ventures with involution from LifeX , Everywhere , Alumni Ventures and a radical of saint investors , including Datavant founder Travis May and Evidation founder and CEO Christine Lemke .

Alex Iskold , manage spouse of 2048 Ventures , aver in a statement , “ At 2048 Ventures we have a potent dissertation around literal - time information , in healthcare and beyond . Vish and Sanjay have a visual modality to purchase AI and material world patient information to unlock a better feedback grommet and at long last quicker and more effective drug development and commercialization . ”
