Apple is working on the development of its next - genesis M serial processors . It could be base on ARM architecture . The company has ordered its new M5 chips from TSMC ( Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company ) , the principal chipping provider for Apple .
Apple was planning to launch its Modern M5 chip with TSMC ’s advanced 2 nm cognitive operation technology . However , Apple is going to stick with the same 3 nanometer chipset as its forerunner cite gamey costs .
The main reason is that the cost of the 2 nm fabrication cognitive process is very high . This will lead in increase prices of MacBooks and iPads which may lead in decrease company overall sale . This decision speculate a strategic move to balance origination with affordability . Apple product are already some of the most agiotage and expensive in the market . Although the new M5 will not built on 2 nm engineering , this does not necessarily mean that the M5 chip will not be an upgrade over the existing M4 crisp in term of performance .
